Congrats to All 2022 State Champs!
Bright Raven Boys Teams Rock this Season
The Bright Raven boys teams are having great season. The Level 9 and 10 boys traveled to Allentown, PA January 24-26 to compete in the Brian Babcock International Invitational where they earned numerous awards. Day one was team and all around competition and our boys captured 1st place in the Senior Elite Team Cup and won the Austin Zalik Team Spirit Award. Ryan Dugan placed 3rd in All Around and Justin Ciccone received the award for Most Original Gymnast.
Day 2 of the Brian Babcock Invitational the boys earned awards for placing individually in events. Ryan Dugan was 1st on Vault, 2nd on Floor, 3rd on Rings and 3rd All Around. Justin Ciccone took 1st on Floor and 2nd on Rings. Mateo Poole was 1st on Vault. Cole Pringle placed 2nd on High Bar. Jack D’Ambrosia was 3rd on Parallel Bars and Ethan Rio was 3rd on Vault.
Our Level 5/6/7 boys teams traveled to Niagara Falls for the Gold Star Invitational the same weekend. The Level 6 boys took 2nd place team with our boys capturing top All Around spots. Caleb Lance took first, Luke Sykora was second and Kash Ames was third in their respective age divisions. In the Child Division, Kash Ames also took 1st on Parallel Bars, 3rd on Vault and 3rd on Floor. Luke Sykora took 2nd on High Bar. In the Jr Division, Taiga Tani was first on Parallel Bars, 2nd on Vault and Floor and 3rd on Pommels. In the Sr Division, Caleb Lantz took 1st on Floor, Rings, Vault and Parallel Bars and finished 2nd on Pommels and High bar. Sam Cohen earned 2nd on Vault. The Level 5 Boys brought home the fourth place team trophy with Nathan Nguyen taking 2nd on Pommels, Aiden Kelly placing 2nd on Vault and Elliot Sonneville, Mason LaMonica and Landon Overacker also contributing to the team effort. In the Level 7 competition, Drew Ahlstrom took 1st in Floor Exercise and tied for 1st on Vault with teammate Alex McFarlane. Alex also earned 2nd on Rings

Bright Raven Girls Teams Bring Home Awards
Bright Raven Girls teams traveled in two different directions the weekend of January 25-26 to compete in different invitationals winning team and individual honors.
Our optional level teams competed in Utica and brought home 3 team trophies. Levels 6 and 7 both took first place and Level 9 came in second place with Naimah Muhammad of Rochester taking first place on vault and Emily Field of Greece taking second all around in the Senior Division. In Level 9 junior division, Sophia Daeschner of Spencerport placed third. In the Level 6 senior division, Lia Brasacchio of Victor won first place in vault, uneven bars and all around. In the child division, Emily Bremer of Victor was first on vault and beam and second all around. Alexis Gerig placed first on bars and third all around in the child division. In the Level 7 competition, Katie Kull of Penfield was first all around. Morgan Sizer of West Henrietta took first on vault and placed second all around. Meredith Fingler of Chili was first on floor exercise and was third all around. Natalie Wood of Henrietta won first place on bars and Madison Maas of Churchville placed fourth all around.
Our Xcel Teams competed in Niagara Falls at the Graffiti Invitational that same weekend also making a fine showing. In the Diamond Division, Emma Hopsicker of Brockport took first on floor and third all around. The Xcel Platinum team earned the third place team banner with Sianna Susa of Chili taking first on vault. Cora Sealfon of Brighton earned first on floor and third all around in the Gold competition and Janita Carley of Gates was first on bars in the Silver competition.

Bright Raven Gymnasts Compete in Upstate Championships
The Bright Raven Level 3 and 4 teams finished the season on a fine note competing in the USA Gymnastics Upstate New York Championships held in Rochester May 17-19. Many champions were named by taking first place in their respective divisions in individual events and all around competition.
With 27 teams represented, Bright Raven’s Level 3 team earned the second place team banner with 11 year old Elliana Visca of Spencerport taking first place in three events: uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise in addition to the all around competition in the Sr C division. Teammate, Sara Bishop of Hilton tied with Elliana Visca for first place on the uneven bars and also captured first place on vault. Hailey Neumann of Brockport earned first place on the uneven bars in the Sr B division. In the Sr D division, Bella Forkel, age 12, of Chili took first place on floor exercise and tied with Norah DeRosia of North Chili for first place on balance beam. Kelsey Magin of Spencerport earned first place on vault in the Sr. E division. In the Jr C age division, 9 year old Ava Marks of West Henrietta took first on vault, floor and all around.
The Level 4 team finished in sixth place in a field of 29 teams with 11 year old Sophia Hogan of Greece taking first on bars, beam, floor and all around in the Jr C division. Mary Cook, age 12 of Brockport won balance beam in the Sr B division. In the Sr D division Anna Silivestro of Spencerport took first on floor exercise and Chloe Potts of Avon was first on bars.

Level 5 and 6 Teams Win at State Meet
The Bright Raven Gymnastics Level 5 and 6 Teams made a fine showing at the USA Gymnastics State Championships held at Rochester Institute of Technology May 3-5.
With 54 teams represented in the Level 5 competition, Bright Raven Gymnastics earned the second place team banner. Five members of the team were named State Champions for their performance in individual events or all around competition and many others medaled finishing near the top in their divisions. 14-year-old Katie Bradfield of Spencerport took first place on balance beam, second in floor exercise and second all around in the Senior D division. Jenna Reiss of Gates placed second on balance beam in the same age division. 13 year olds Kailey Tran of Gates and Lia Brasacchio of Victor were both named State Champions in the Senior C division. Tran took first place on vault, floor and all around. Brasacchio took first place on the uneven bars, and placed second on vault, floor exercise and all-around. 10 year old Alexis Gerig of Greece captured first place on vault in the Junior A Division and teammate Kennedi Gadsden of Greece earned first on vault and third on the uneven bars in the Junior B Division.
The Level 6 Team also had several medal winners and finished in seventh place among 64 teams. 12 year old Morgan Sizer of West Henrietta earned 3 gold medals in the Senior A Division taking first on the uneven pars, balance beam and all around. She also placed second on vault and floor exercise. In the Senior B division, Katie Kull of Pittsford took first on balance beam and third all around. In the Senior D division, 13 year old Caroline Garbe of Webster took first place on floor exercise and Natalie Wood of Henrietta took second on beam. 14 year old Gabby White of Spencerport also earned 3 gold medals taking first on vault, bars and floor. She finished third on bars and second all around. Emily Post of Spencerport, age 15, placed third on vault.

Gymnasts Advance in Jr Olympic Competition
Bright Raven Gymnastics had 9 gymnasts qualify to participate in Regional Competition held in Springfield, Massachusetts this season, several of which also have qualified to advance even further in USA Gymnastics competition. Gymnasts Levels 7 through 9 qualify for Regionals by earning high all around scores at their respective State Championships. Level 9 gymnasts may also qualify to advance further to the Eastern Championships.
At the Level 8 Regional Championships held April 6 – 7, Jillian Ambler, age 14, of Fairport took first place in floor exercise, third on balance beam and sixth all around in the Senior A Division. Kylie Rozzi, age 15, of Spencerport was awarded first place for her performance on balance beam, third place on vault and fifth all around in the Senior B Division. In the Level 7 competition, Nyla Ragland, age 12 and Mary Sack, age 11, both from Spencerport placed fourth and fifth on vault in their age divisions. Ragland also finished fifth in all around competition.
The Level 9 Regional Championships was held the following weekend, April 12 – 14 in Springfield Massachusetts. At Regionals, Bright Raven had three gymnasts qualify to advance to the Eastern Championships: Naimah Muhammad of Rochester, Emily Field of Greece and Liliana Sack of Spencerport. Each of these gymnasts also medaled in the individual events in their respective age divisions. 16-year-old Naimah Muhamad took a second place on floor exercise, fifth on bars and sixth on balance beam. Emily Field, age 17, earned fourth place on balance beam and fifth on floor. 14-year-old Liliana Sack placed fifth on bars. Only the top 7 all around gymnasts in each age division advance to Easterns. These three will travel to Kissimmee Florida, May 10-12 to compete in the in the Level 9 Eastern Championships.

Boys Compete in Regionals and Qualify for Nationals
Four members of the Bright Raven Gymnastics Team have qualified to advance to the USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic Men’s National Championships. The boys qualified for Nationals by earning high all around scores at the USAG Region VI Championships held April 6-7 in Landover, Maryland where they competed against gymnasts from Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia in addition to New York. 15-year-old Justin Ciccone of Greece competed in the Level 10 Junior Elite Division and placed third in floor exercise, pommel horse, vault and all around. Justin was the youngest and one of just 10 boys to qualify for Nationals in the Level 10 Junior Elite Division. Teammates, Ryan Dugan, Ethan Rio and Cole Pringle also qualified to advance to the Level 10 National Championships to be held in Reno, Nevada next month. At Regionals, Cole Pringle of Pittsford captured first place in floor exercise, second place on high bar and second place all around. Ryan Dugan of Fairport took second place on floor and third place on parallel bars. Ethan Rio of Avon placed fourth on high bar. As a team, Bright Raven took 2nd place in the Level 10 age 15-16 division.
In the Level 6 competition at Regionals, Milo Anderson of Fairport earned first place in floor exercise and third place on vault in the 10 year old division. Alex MacFarlane of Spencerport placed third in vault in the 12-year-old division.

Xcel and Level 9 Gymnasts Compete in State Meet
Bright Raven Xcel and Level 9 Gymnasts traveled to Suffern, New York March 15-17 to compete in the USA Gymnastics State Championships bringing home several honors.
In the Xcel Gold competition, 15-year-old Rebecca Bready of Gates took first place in floor exercise and placed third on balance beam. Teammate, Megan Corcimiglia of North Chili earned third place on floor. Evelyn Clyde, age 13, took first all around in the Xcel Silver Senior division and also earned silver medals on the uneven parallel bars and floor exercise. Emma Hopsicker of Brockport competed in the Xcel Platinum Junior division taking third place in floor exercise.
In the Level 9 Senior C competition, 16-year-old Naimah Muhammad of Rochester took second place in both vault and floor and finished third all around. Naimah and her three Level 9 teammates earned high all around scores qualifying them to advance to Regional competition. Lilianna Sack and Sydney Sack, both of Spencerport and Emily Field of Greece will travel this month to Springfield, Massachusetts to compete in Regionals with gymnasts from the New England States in addition to New York.

Boys Win Gold in Gymnastics State Meet
The Bright Raven Gymnastics Boys Teams had a very strong showing at the 2019 USA Gymnastics New York State Championships held at SUNY Brockport March 16-17 emerging with 10 State Champions and many gymnasts qualifying to advance to Regional Competition.
The Level 10 team finished in third place with 15-year-old Justin Ciccone of Greece earning gold for his performance in the vault and all-around competition. Ciccone also went on to win in the Junior Elite competition taking first place in floor exercise, vault, rings and high bar.
Aiden Arena, age 15, of Fairport earned three gold medals in the Level 9 competition finishing first in parallel bars, high bar and all around.
In the Level 7 competition, Mateo Poole of Henrietta took first place on the pommel horse, first on vault and second all around. Evan Gienau of Henrietta was first in floor exercise and third all around.
The Bright Raven Level 6 team also finished third with Milo Anderson of Fairport winning first place on high bar and second place all around.
In the Level 5 competition, 11-year-old Samuel Cohen of Brighton took first place in parallel bars.
The Bright Raven Level 4 gymnasts earned fourth place as a team with Elliot Sonneville, age 7, of Walworth earning first place in floor exercise, high bar and all around.
In the Junior Developmental competition for ages 11-12, Charlie Dovichi of Lima took first place on Rings and Matthew Rowe of North Chili earned first in floor exercise. In the 13-14 age division, Deven Weeden of North Chili earned first place in floor exercise and Cameron Conheady of Rochester was third all around.
Several members of the Bright Raven team qualified to advance in USA Gymnastics competition. Milo Anderson was named to the Level 6 New York State Team by placing in the top 10 all around across age divisions. He will travel to West Point April 28th to compete in the Region 7 State Team Championships where he will help New York take on the teams from New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia.
